Mark 10:47-52
“When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more. “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”
Oh, the utmost faith this man had in the Messiah, Jesus Christ! This is the relationship I yearn to have with Him. To call upon Him when I need healing, to call upon Him without ceasing. To simply call upon the Lord all day, everyday, just to talk. This man was bold, he did not care that his words to Jesus were being silenced by those around him, he just continued, and I believe as he did, he cried out even louder. When Jesus’ disciples tell told this man to come, he throws his cloak aside and jumps to his feet, because at that moment, nothing else matters to that man other than speaking with Jesus. Nothing. Else. Matters. This man makes having faith so seemingly easy, and in reality, when we know who the Lord is, having faith should be. The Lord wants us to come to Him just as we are, in the here and now, to heal us of our pain, suffering, and in this particular case, blindness. The best part is that when we run to God, His arms are always open. He always comes through for His people, and although He might not respond immediately after calling out to Him, He always answers, in His perfect timing. I still am unable to fathom why I cannot trust the Lord the way this man has. If Jesus can heal a blind man, why am I unsure that He can heal a broken heart, or a shattered self esteem? The realm of possibilities is endless because our Lord can move mountains, He simply asks us to trust Him in the process. “Go”, said Jesus, “your faith has healed you."
Application
Today, I will write notes of reminders throughout the day stating who the Lord is to me and all the more reasons I have to trust Him and have faith that He can heal me just as He did the blind man.
